A Message from the Author:
There are many of us who have forgotten our culture. We have coupled the change of the new era, and we have forgotten our ancestors and our roots. It seems that we only think of them when the schoolteacher requires us to study our history, but it all just stays in the classroom.
For as humble that our ancestors may have been, they also had struggles, had dreams and longing for something better for their families. We cannot and should not forget their sacrifices. Many of them had to endure great suffering to achieve their dreams—slavery, racism, opprobrium, etc. In the end all that is left is us, their hope. In this Pipil story, I found it necessary to remember them as they were. In this fictional story, I have tried to maintain
and show their culture as closely as possible, but keep in mind that it is still a work of fiction.
It has really been an adventure to write this story. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have.
“Let’s never forget where we came from, and we’ll find peace in our destiny.”
